Windows Recovery Console

Recovery Console


Supported by Windows 2000 and Windows XP, the windows recovery console is a DOS-like command environment which allows you to diagnose, repair system errors and retrieve lost data.

Usage of Console

To do this, follow these steps:

For Windows 2000 or XP Users,

  1. Bootup with the Windows 2000 or XP CD. You may need to select the correct boot device.

  2. When a message prompts you to hit any key to boot from CD, hit any key

  3. At the Windows Setup menu, press R to enter the recovery console

  4. Select the Windows Installation to log on to

  5. When prompted, enter your administrator password and hit Enter

    If you do not have an administrator password, leave it blank.

  6. Hit Enter to enter into the command prompt
